Eight years ago we won a competition for one of the first large scale Build-to-Rent developments in London. At the interview we were asked by the client who the building we designed would belong to. In line with our approach to putting people first in design, we answered that it would belong to the residents of the project, and not the developer, or the operator, and certainly not the architect!
Therefore it is testament to this approach that our 10 George Street BTR scheme for Vertus won HomeViews best BTR Development of 2020. Vantage Point and Emerald Gardens were also in the top 10 despite completing in 2017/18. These awards are judged solely based on the feedback of people that live in the developments on how they rate the Facilities, Design, Location, Value and Building Management. Receiving industry awards is great, but actually we value “consumer” feedback even higher.
Part of these projects success is the way we put future residents first in how we design our buildings, thinking about their journey home, the layout and design of their homes, their connections to nature whilst creating exciting and relevant amenity spaces for them to use. With each project we take new insights from the tenants' experience which are invaluable. We have many more BTR developments under construction and on the drawing board. We’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Vertus, Essential Living and Quintain Living.
